CHRISTMAS APPLIQUES

We are including three appliques, a Santa, a Mrs. Santa and a Frosty The Snowman. These appliques can be used to decorate a Christmas tree skirt, a wall hanging, Christmas stockings or sweatshirts, depending on the fabric used to make the applique.

Materials:

  • Fabric of your choice on which to apply appliques

  • Assorted fabric in the amounts listed, colors listed below (Sample was done as felt Christmas tree skirt)

  • Scissors

  • Iron

  • Teflon sheet or 2 pieces of aluminum foil, approximately 8" X 12",

  • Black permanent marker for detail,

  • Assortment of glitter paint

  • Glue-on jewels

  • Trims as needed for embellishment.

Snowman (Pattern)

  • Body: white, 5" X 6 1/2"

  • Hat: black, 2 1/2" X 4"

  • Scarf: color of your choice, 3" X 4"

  • Christmas tree: green, 1 1/2" X 2 1/2"

  • Stocking: red, 2" X 3 1/2"

  • Carrot nose: orange, 1/2" X 1"

  • Fusible web

Mrs. Santa (Pattern)

  • Face: pink/flesh, 2" X 2"

  • Cap & Dress:blue, 5" X 7"

  • Trim for hat, collar, apron and cuffs: white, 5" X 5"

  • Shoes: black, 1 1/2" X 3"

  • Mittens: blue, 2" X 2"

  • Cookie sheet: silver or gray 1 1/2" X 3"

  • Gingerbread man cookie: brown, 1 1/2" X 2"

  • Fusible web

Santa (Pattern)

  • Face: pink/flesh, 1 1/2" X 1/1/2"

  • Tree: green, 7 1/2" X 8"

  • Santa's suit and hat: red, 4" X 6"

  • Boot & belt: black, 2" X 6"

  • Buckle: gold/silver, 1" X 1"

  • Hat & suit trim, hair & beard: white 3" X 8 1/2"

  • Sack: brown, 3 1/2" X 4"

  • Fusible web

Instructions:

Use heavy duty fusible web and if applying to washables it is best to seal all edges with fabric paint. Trace each section of the finished outline onto the paper backing of your fusible web. Apply fusible web pattern pieces to the individual fabrics following the instructions on your fusible web. Cut out individual pieces and arrange in position on the background you will be using following the drawing. Remove paper backing from each piece and reposition and iron in place. Using the black permanent marker or fabric paint draw in details. Using glitter paint, trim or glue on jewels, decorate the Christmas tree and Snowman's scarf. Black slick paint or buttons work well for Snowman's eyes and buttons.
